& Organizational Effectiveness (PDOE)

About the Director of Professional Development & Organizational Effectiveness Role:
The New Orleans Youth Alliance is looking for an entrepreneurial, innovative leader to move the organization toward achieving its strategic goals by leading our professional development and organizational effectiveness work. The Director of Professional Development & Organizational Effectiveness leads all teaching, learning, and curriculum programs, including the organization’s signature program, NOLA Youth Program Quality Initiative (NOLA-YPQI), which is in partnership with the Forum for Youth Investment.


What Makes A Successful NOYA Director, PDOE:

The ideal NOYA Director of Professional Development & Organizational Effectiveness serves through collaboration, problem solving, innovation and courage. The Director of PDOE is successful by building and maintaining a diversified portfolio of clients who serve young people (ages birth to 24 years old), maintaining high quality NOYA PDOE programming, developing and effectively leading a team who is positively experienced by clients, modeling exemplary coaching and training, developing mission-aligned curricula to meet client needs and fill gaps in areas of professional development and organizational effectiveness to adequately serve young people, and by using data and informal/formal feedback from critical stakeholders to strengthen programs and services provided.

The NOYA Director, PDOE is self-motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities. He/She/They will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and to youth development and youth leadership, have familiarity or experience with the Weikart Center’s Youth Program Quality Interventions. The NOYA Director, PDOE is a self-starter, works well collaboratively, has strong written and oral communication skills, and has strong analytical and problem solving skills. The NOYA Director, PDOE is flexible and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. As a member of the NOYA leadership team, the Director, PDOE has demonstrated alignment to NOYA values, embodies strong leadership, adaptability, self-awareness, social awareness, motivation, empathy, self-regulation and capacity to build strong and meaningful relationships with colleagues and partners.

Key Responsibilities of this Position:

As such, the ideal must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Cultivate, steward and maintain relationships with youth-serving organizations, K-16 organizations, and businesses locally, state-wide, and nationally to build a diverse portfolio of clients for our professional development and organization effectiveness trainings and services.

  • Serve as Lead Coach and Lead Trainer for NOYA-PDOE Initiatives, including working with the NOLA-YPQI Coaches to facilitate the development and delivery of Team Leader Community of Practice meetings

  • Build, manage, and lead full-time and part time staff as well as consultants of the NOYA PDOE team.

  • Maintain regular project-related communications related stakeholders.

  • Develop and update the project calendar.

  • Plan and ensure successful implementation of all NOYA-PDOE trainings.

  • Manage the outreach for participating programs.

  • Management of project-related data, including attendance, Scores Reporter account passwords, Eventbrite online workshop registrations, and contact lists.

  • Lead the development of new curricula, trainings, and learning activities to facilitate skills development for clients of NOYA PDOE.

  • Coordinate with the Executive Director and Director of Communications on NOYA PDOE communications including email alerts, social media campaigns, press releases and other related communications.

  • Work with NOYA PDOE consultants who serve as coaches to coordinate learning communities among YPQI Team Leaders, Youth Work Methods Trainers and Coach/Assessors.

  • Serve on committees associated with the work of professional development and organizational effectiveness.

  • Serve as the organizational lead for partnerships related to professional development and organizational effectiveness.

  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with diverse audiences, including partners, community leaders, and members of the media.

  • Coordinate technical assistance and project evaluation activities with the Weikart Center, local consultants and project stakeholders.

  • Ensure successful scheduling, coordination and logistical support for all trainings.

  • Have working knowledge of best pedagogical practices for training and coaching.

  • Maintain inventory of all training materials.

  • Ensuring a consistent, welcoming and responsive presence at all NOYA PDOE activities.

  • Present at NOYA Board of Directors meetings, local, state, and national conferences at the request of the Executive Director.

  • Assist the Executive Director with grant writing and reporting.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Education- Bachelor’s required in education, youth development, counseling, social work or other related field; Master’s Preferred.

  • Teaching and training experience in youth development (e.g., out-of-school time programs), K-12 and/or adult education experience required.

  • Experience with coaching adults as well as curriculum development experience required.

  • Successful experience managing learning initiatives and supervisory experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of restorative justice practices, trauma-informed practices, and/or cultural responsive practice a plus.


Salary

Salary range for this position is $70,000- $80,000 commensurate with the candidate’s educational background and experience.
